A customer with multiple subsidiaries across South Africa required a robust enterprise resource planning ERP system to unify its disparate systems and streamline control of the business units. SYSPRO was already in operation at some of the sites within the group. Coupled with our intimate knowledge of the businesses and their operations, SYSPRO proved to be the favoured and logical choice for the rest of the sites.
In partnership with the customer’s internal team, we were initially tasked with implementing SYSPRO to the additional 12 sites within 18 months. These fast-moving consumer goods sites shared many similar business processes (albeit with some nuances), so we were able to design a single SYSPRO process blueprint that could fit all. Not only did we manage to complete the project 6 months early, but it also managed to 2 additional sites. This was an onerous task, but with dedication from both parties we were able to achieve this and deliver additional functionally ahead of time with minimal overrun on budget.
The unified SYSPRO process model laid a solid foundation for centralised and consolidated group reporting and data analytics (business intelligence), which continues to help subsidiaries to quickly share knowledge, identify weaknesses, and improve their operations.
With this centralised and unified approach, the group has seen benefits ranging from broken down information silos, reduced and automated reporting cycles, custom automation beneficial to all sites, and reduced and shared infrastructure, support, and development improvement costs.
